Participate in AVA survey and contribute to improve validation systems in Europe

Validation of non‑formal and informal learning is gradually more seen as a way of improving lifelong learning and well-being. ‘AVA – Action Plan for Validation and non-formal education’ project, coordinated by EAEA, aims to contribute to reducing the fragmentation of the national validation systems by proposing solutions from the civil society perspective.

One of the first outcomes of the AVA project is an explanatory article on the relevance of the project in relation to the current main challenges of the validation systems in the EU. Susana Oliveira from KERIGMA – The Institute for Innovation and Social Development (PT), analyses the recently published European Inventory on validation of non-formal and informal learning and focused in particular on three main points:

  • the challenge of timing;
  • the focus on disadvantaged groups;
  • the issue of fragmentation.

The AVA survey

In the above-mentioned article, Ms. Oliveira also presents the second outcome of the project: the AVA survey. The questionnaire is addressed to adult education providers and civil society representatives and aims to get their insights on the validation systems in the EU as well as collect experiences and understanding on their challenges and fears.

A special focus will be kept on positive methodologies to make validation systems more inclusive and allow disadvantaged groups to move vertically and horizontally in their personal lives and careers.

The survey has just been launched and will be open until the end of April. If you wish to express your opinion on the existing validation arrangement and interesting best practice, please follow this link. It will take around 30 minutes to fill in the questionnaire.
