Traineeship at EAEA

EAEA accepts applications for trainees throughout the year. Traineeships can be applied for at the EAEA Brussels office or at the EAEA communications Unit in Helsinki. Please note that the costs have to be covered by the sending organisation or by applying for a grant, for example under the Erasmus+ internship mobility programme. Traineeship at EAEA Brussels Secretariat

Are you interested in adult learning? Would you like to find out more about advocacy and project work in a European NGO? Join our multicultural office in the heart of Brussels!

The European Association for the Education of Adults (EAEA) is the voice of non-formal adult education in Europe. We are a European NGO with 133 member organisations in 43 countries and we represent more than 60 million learners Europe-wide.

What we offer

As a trainee you will have a possibility to visit European institutions, to attend European conferences and  meetings and to establish contacts with other European associations.

Please note that the costs have to be covered by the sending organisation or by applying for a grant, for example under an Erasmus+ or Eurodyssey internship mobility programmes. As a receiving organisation, EAEA will provide a daily allowance and reimbursement of the daily commute.

  • Supporting the secretariat in communication tasks
  • Assisting in EAEA projects
  • Helping in the preparation of events
  • Collecting best practices in adult learning

Requirements

  • Excellent command of English, a reasonable French is an asset
  • Very good writing skills
  • Good IT skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work creatively in a multicultural team

EAEA Helsinki communications unit

EAEA Communications unit doesn’t have open traineeship placements at the moment. As a trainee or volunteer in the EAEA Communications unit, you will learn communications related tasks and get to know the Finnish adult education community. Applicants should be eligible for Erasmus+ grant.

Tasks

  • Producing communication materials for EAEA according to the applicant’s interests (journalistic writing, visual materials such as brochures and fact sheets)
  • Contributing to EAEA’s social media channels
  • Helping with project dissemination tasks
  • Maintaining the EAEA website

Requirements

  • Fluent English
  • Good communication skills
  • Desire to learn
  • Interest in adult learning
  • Ability to work independently
  • Adaptivity: ability to work in a foreign culture
  • Excellent computer skills (mastering Adobe Photoshop and InDesign programs is an asset)
  • Minimum stay: 3 months (please indicate the preferred starting date in the cover letter)

EAEA is looking for a Capacity-Building and Projects Coordinator

The European Association for the Education of Adults (EAEA) is the voice of non-formal adult education in Europe. EAEA is a European NGO with 120 member organisations in 43 countries and represents more than 60 million learners Europe-wide.

We are hiring a Capacity-Building and Projects Coordinator (80%-100%) to join our motivated team in Brussels.
As our new team member you will:
  • Prepare events, training courses, study visits, and other capacity-building formats for EAEA’s members and wider network of stakeholders, advocacy partners, adult learning organisations, educators and learners (in person and online, including through MOOCs);
  • Develop learning content for our diverse target groups of capacity-building programmes;
  • Deliver capacity-building programmes;
  • Manage EU-funded projects, especially in the field of sustainability and the green transition, especially in Erasmus+ and Horizon Europe;
  • Develop capacity-building programmes for EAEA’s projects;
  • Develop communication products for EAEA’s projects;
  • Support the development of new project applications as well as the reporting of ongoing and closed projects, including the operating grant that EAEA receives from the European Commission;
  • Participate in regular coordination meetings with other team members on policy and advocacy-related and any other tasks and activities.
You bring:
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience, preferably in European or international associations and networks;
  • Ideally a degree or professional certificate in European Studies, International Development Studies, Cultural and Social Anthropology, Andragogy, or similar study fields;
  • A lot of motivation and willingness to work both in teams as well as autonomously;
  • Motivation to experiment with different learning and training formats to meet the needs of all groups of participants and learners of EAEA’s capacity-building programmes;
  • A great openness for working in a diverse team and promoting diversity at the workplace;
  • Fluent proficiency in English and either Dutch or French;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Experience in working with relevant tools such as Moodle, Basecamp, Google Workspace, Zoom, MS Office, etc.;
  • Willingness for occasional travel in Europe.
Our offer:
  • A 1-year contract (80%-100% of full-time) according to Belgian law with a possibility for an extension depending on our funding;
  • 42.000 euro gross per annum for a full-time work schedule;
  • 25 annual leave days + office closure between Christmas and New Year + additional leave per 5 years of seniority;
