Dr. János Szigeti Tóth, president of the Hungarian Folk High School Society (HFHSS) and former president of the European Association for the Education of Adults, passed away on 25 June 2019.
Born in 1947, Dr. János Szigeti Tóth was a sociologist and a doctor of philosophy in adult education, professor at Eötvös Loránd University and other universities, as well as head of department at Pázmány Péter University.
He was the president of the Hungarian Folk High School Society (HFHSS). He acted as the president of the European Association for the Education of Adults from 2002 to 2008, the vice president of the International Council for Adult Education from 2000 to 2002, and an expert for the EU’s Directorate General for Education and Culture. He was the first ever Hungarian to be awarded at the International Adult and Continuing Education Hall of Fame in the US.
The most important place in his life was Mindszentkálla, to which he was attached by very deep roots and where he passed away.
