Who we are?

The Adult Education is a very important part of life. Adult Education Centers offer courses in general, professional, cultural and political education. Knowledge and the ability to apply the acquired knowledge must be constantly updated and expanded over the course of life. With the courses they offer the Adult Education Centers support the process of Lifelong Learning. Adult Education Centers are everywhere and always nearby, open to eveyone, open to people of all social strata and income groups, all backgrounds and culture, for people with and without disabilities.

What we do?

One of the tasks of the Verband der Volkshochschulen des Saarlandes e.V. is the policy advocacy of its 16 members, which are the 16 Adult Education Centers (Volkshochschulen) in the Saaland.

The Verband acts as a consultant, and coordinates various projects, most of which are funded by the Ministry of Education. It is responsible for the organization of the semi-annual staff training program, in cooperation with the two other associations in Rheinland-Pfalz und Hessen. Its members offer support and courses of literacy and numeracy, courses for migrants, language courses, courses about health and many more.
