Visualising adult education

“Live and Learn” project produces audio-visual stories on adult education. EAEA is a partner in the two-year Erasmus+ project, coordinated by a Finnish EAEA member KVS – The Finnish Lifelong Learning Foundation.

“Live and Learn” is inspired by two observations, shared by most European adult education policy documents and relevant stories. Firstly, there is a clear need to increase participation in adult education across Europe. Secondly, new ways of sharing best practices among European adult educators must be found.

The two-year project will address these needs in an innovative way: through the medium of videos. At the kick-off meeting in January 2015 in Helsinki, the partners discussed the first steps of creating short films that tell informative and entertaining stories about adult learning. The target audiences of the videos will be adult educators as well as the general public and policy makers in Europe.

Practical ideas and inspiration for adult learning

Ten videos – two videos in five different European countries – will be produced in the framework of the project. The videos targeted at the adult educators will offer practical ideas and share good practices for professional development of European adult educators. The videos targeted at the general public and policy makers will tell the story of a successful adult learner that can inspire audience to engage in learning. They also provide further knowledge about the benefits of adult learning.

The project coordinator is KVS – The Finnish Lifelong Learning Foundation. Project partners include EAEA as the dissemination partner as well as the EAEA members DVV International (Germany), NIACE (United Kingdom), DAEA (Denmark), and Kerigma (Portugal). Videos will be produced in Finland, Germany, UK, Denmark and Portugal. They will be available in the end of 2016.

Taking steps towards safe spaces for adult learning: co-creating the SAFE Board Game

In February we had a workshop with members of the European civil society in Brussels in order to start with the co-creation stage of the SAFE Board Game. The participants agreed that a safe learning space is not just a place but is essentially how we create relationships that are self-reflective and inclusive.
