The second meeting of the Smart Generation Steering Committee took place on 11-12 July at the premises of the Technological High School in Rucăr, Romania. The project consortium had a look into the preliminary results of a European-wide survey on the use of smartphones among young students and educators. The survey provided groundwork for future developments, namely the preparation of an e-learning platform and a pedagogical model on a safe use of smartphones.
Educating with and about smartphones
Coordinated by Centro Culturale Francesco Luigi Ferrari in Italy, the consortium also includes EAEA and EAEA member Solidarci. Smart Generation is an attempt to propose and encourage a responsible use of smartphones among the European youth, most importantly by developing an educational model to this end. Other project outcomes include policy recommendations on the use of smartphones, an open source e-learning platform and a pilot model of workshops on Media Education.
To ensure the highest quality of the outcomes, the consortium is currently looking for best practice examples in media education, specifically in the use of smartphones among the youth.
