Eight new members join EAEA

EAEA welcomed eight new members at the General Assembly 3rd of June in Leipzig, Germany. The new members come from Kosovo, France, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Austria and Greece.

EAEA’s General Assembly has accepted two new ordinary members and six associate members. Representatives from four organisations received their membership certificates at the Assembly in Leipzig.

New ordinary members

Nongovernmental organisation THY (THY), Kosovo

NGO THY empowers youth and adults through inclusive, lifelong learning, civic engagement, and social inclusion. Based in Prizren, its learning centre offers non-formal education, digital skills, and personal development programs inspired by the Volkshochschule model. Through local and international initiatives, THY promotes active citizenship, intercultural dialogue, and equal access to education for all.

Cie Essevesse, France

Cie Essevesse is a dance company engaged in creating choreographic work in France and in Europe. We also work for social purposes through dance and dance/art therapy methodologies, and more specifically for: social inclusion, personal development and mental health. Our mission: democratise Dance.

New associate members

Austrian Young Workers’ Movement (ÖJAB), Austria

ÖJAB is a nonprofit social organisation committed to fostering community, guided by respect, tolerance, and a humanistic worldview. Independent of political or religious affiliations, it works across youth, senior care, education, and integration. ÖJAB provides inclusive living and learning environments that support personal growth, social cohesion, and mutual support, from student residences and elderly care homes to training programs and support for refugees.

General Secretariat for Vocational Education, Training & Lifelong Learning (G.S.V.E.T.&L.L.L.) – Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs & Sports, Greece

The General Secretariat for VET and Lifelong Learning leads the design and delivery of national policies in vocational education, training, and lifelong learning. It provides scientific and administrative support to shape a coordinated system that meets evolving educational and workforce needs.

European Grants International Academy (EGInA), Italy

Designing and implementing training interventions and initiatives that respond to community needs, fostering cultural exchange and cohesion and exploiting the opportunities offered by innovative processes to contribute to transformative change in society. To ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and to promote lifelong learning for all as the main strategy for personal fulfilment for all people, with a special focus on those experiencing or at risk of disadvantage.

Escola Arvore, Portugal

Escola Arvore provides vocational and artistic training for young people and adults in the fields of arts, design, audiovisuals, and digital technologies. With a focus on local employment needs, it promotes technical and creative skill development through innovative, hands-on learning. Rooted in ethical and civic values, it plays a key role in the social and economic development of northern Portugal.

NoCode, Portugal

NoCode Institute empowers individuals to build digital solutions without needing to code, helping them reboot careers and thrive in a tech-driven world. Focused on inclusion, lifelong learning, and accessibility, it provides non-formal, flexible training to close the digital skills gap and create lasting social impact.

Spanish Volunteering Platform, Spain

PVE is a network committed to promoting transformative voluntary action and strengthening the role of volunteering in society, grounded in the values of dignity, freedom, equality, justice, solidarity, and tolerance. It supports volunteer organisations through accessible, high-quality training, offering free courses and micro-credentials to empower individuals and build a stronger culture of solidarity across Spain.

Introducing EAEA’s 2026 Annual Theme: Resilience and Community-Building

EAEA'S 2026 annual theme is closely linked to current EU priorities, especially the Democracy Package - including the Civil Society Strategy and the Democracy Shield initiative. At a time of rising Euroscepticism and threats to democratic values, adult education has the power to strengthen democracy by promoting civic engagement, critical thinking and participation.

How learning and action shape a more sustainable society: golden nuggets from neuroscience to foster a constructive climate change debate

On February 4-5, EAEA participated in a learning symposium and keynote speech around climate education research and action, in Geneva, Switzerland. The events were organised in the context of the Horizon Europe LEVERs project, in which EAEA is a partner.

Remote work: Challenges and opportunities for ALE in the digital world

EAEA’s Communication, Capacity-building and Membership Officer, Marina Sakač Hadžić, attended a conference on the topic of Remote Work & Social Change, taking place at the University of Antwerp on the 20th and 21st of January. She combines her work at EAEA with a PhD in law, bringing together insights from non-formal adult learning with ethnographic research.
