EAEA strengthens its commitment to skilling and upskilling initiatives by joining the Pact for Skills

The European Association for the Education of Adults (EAEA) is pleased to announce that we have officially joined the European Commission’s Pact for Skills initiative.

In April 2025, EAEA has become a member of the European Commission’s Pact for Skills initiative. EAEA is the voice of non-formal adult education in Europe. Its purpose is to link and represent European organisations directly involved in adult learning. EAEA promotes adult learning and access to and participation in non-formal adult education for all, particularly for groups currently under-represented.

Strengthening EAEA’s commitment to reskilling and upskilling

EAEA collaborates closely at the European level on future skills developments, most recently with CEDEFOP for their Foresight Study on Future Skills (March 2025). EAEA has also done considerable work with our members in the area of up- and reskilling. For example, through the Partnerships and stakeholder engagement for Upskilling Pathways (Partner UP) project, EAEA contributed to upskilling pathways by identifying and engaging new stakeholders, establish and improve cooperation mechanisms and implementation plans with them.

The Pact for Skills will support our work in the area of skilling and reskilling, as well as our wider commitment to a Union of Skills that puts the needs and ambitions of adult learners at the centre.

Farmers are ready to adapt to the twin transition — but training systems must be adjusted too

Europe’s farmers are often portrayed as resistant to change. Yet across the continent, farmers are already navigating climate pressures, sustainability requirements, rising costs, labour shortages and rapid technological change. The challenge may not be a lack of willingness to learn, but whether education and training systems are designed for the realities of agricultural life.

Strengthening adult education through emerging technologies

While new technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) have become more and more integrated in formal education settings, adult education has yet to profit properly from these technological advancements.
