DigiFusE: Digital Fusion Environments

DigiFusE is an Erasmus+ KA2 project, aiming to create practical, evidence-based guidelines for a successful Education Environment to help (closed) detention and care institutions for vulnerable people. It supports the development of digital readiness and resilience capacity in controlled learning environments, improving their education environment.

The DigiFusE method will be based on the findings of desk and field research, combining the knowledge of needs and challenges with best practices already existing and assembling them in a practical format, which will later be tested and piloted in 5 countries and disseminated among local, national and European stakeholders.

Why?

People living in (closed) detention and care centres and other vulnerable groups are considered particularly at-risk groups when it comes to keeping up with the rapid shift towards digitalisation that society has undergone in recent decades. Providing a rich and secure digital learning environment is more crucial than ever in helping individuals navigate society.

Many countries still struggle with arranging blended education for people in settings such as detention, (closed) care institutes and adult education centres that take care of vulnerable target groups, such as (ex)-prisoners and migrants who need to improve their competences to (re)integrate the labour market force or undergo new training opportunities.

How?

There have already been many advancements – in academia and practice. Researchers have studied the impact of digital rehabilitation and the barriers practitioners might face when implementing these digital tools on-site. In turn, many practices have already been successfully implemented. The consortium will start by analysing existing literature on the topic while conducting interviews with relevant stakeholders in the different countries to draft a method adapted to the needs and context of each country. This method will be further adapted with the piloting phase with the different target groups, improving 3 existing education environments (BLEEP, TRIANGLE and PERSPEKTIVE) and a DigiFusE training provided at national and international levels.
