During the ABC of ALE training, participants are introduced to the concept of non-formal adult learning and education (ALE) and its holistic approach. The programme provides an overview of the field, from its historical development and key concepts to its role in society today.
The programme is developed and delivered by EAEA experts and combines presentations, discussions, group work and participatory activities. Participants also have the opportunity to learn from local adult learning providers through study visits and exchanges with practitioners.
ABC of ALE: 2026 edition
How is adult learning and education (ALE) understood across Europe? What are the key principles that underpin our work? How can ALE contribute to resilience and community-building?
Join EAEA in Brussels for a four-day European training exploring the fundamentals of adult learning and education (ALE), connecting theory with practice and examining its role in building resilient learning societies.
The 2026 edition will focus on the EAEA annual theme of Resilience and Community-building exploring how adult learning and education professionals can engage with community spaces and work alongside learners to strengthen both individual and collective resilience.
The programme includes a study visit and training activities at CVO Crescendo in Mechelen, an adult learning centre in Flanders and part of the GO! network, where participants will have the opportunity to learn from local practice.
