Digital Skills for What? Rethinking Technology in Adult Education

We’ll be looking at technology in adult education from three angles. How does it affect the way adults learn? Who does it reach, and who does it leave out? And how can educators use it in ways that serve their learners?

In this ETHLAE webinar, three brilliant speakers bring different angles to that question:

  • Djamileh Aminian has spent over 15 years as an educator and is now doing her PhD at the University of Geneva, looking at how generative AI shapes the way adults think, feel and stay motivated. She’ll talk about AI and the adult learner.
  • Ellen Boeren is Professor of Education at the University of Glasgow and one of the leading voices on who takes part in lifelong learning. She advises the European Commission, has worked with the OECD, and will ask who gets left behind.
  • Margherita Pina is a PhD Researcher in Teaching and Learning Sciences at the University of Macerata, where she focuses on university teaching and how educators develop. She’ll make the case for putting learners before tools.
